The Amina Trust is a non-profit, non-government and non-political organization registered with Govt of Pakistan in Islamabad. The Amina Trust is registered as a charitable organization with aim of reducing the suffering of poor women through the establishments of skill development projects in the rural and under developed areas of Pakistan. We target the poorest and most vulnerable people in the underprivileged areas and place special emphasis on women.
The Amina Trust focuses on building and sustaining the welfare of Pakistan’s girls and women. Research shows that giving girls a formal education through at least the fifth grade level lowers infant mortality rate, reduces population expansion, and improves basic health. A woman who had had just a few years of schooling is much more likely to send her own children to school. We realize that education and training improves the lives of girls and women, ultimately leading to more balanced individuals, stronger families and a better society. Educated and skilled women have a strong impact on society and human development. In this time of modern technology, we need to improve women conditions in the developing world by providing them with education and training. The Amina Trust believes that women's education and training is indispensable to their economic and social development. The empowerment of the women is crucial to change some of the societal norms and attitudes that discriminate against women.
Our vocational training programs are carefully matched with the needs of the community and we ensure that students and participants are able to use their skills and start their own business after completion of the courses.
Why Pakistan?
A
ccording to the UN, 74% of Pakistan's 180 million people live on less than $2 a day, and over 8 million of the 20 million school-age children are not in primary school. Now more than ever mothers need access to education, training and economic opportunities. Enabling this will result in increased access, choice, and prioritizing education for their children--fostering dignity and security.
